Darren Umpleby

- Clinical Lead

My role is leading the be-hive coaching for adults. I work on developing and implementing the program and on creation of content..

I have spent many years working in the NHS in Emergency medicine as a Qualified Registered Nurse.
I have witnessed the devastating impact that anxiety can have on individuals and families alike, especially children.

Specialising in delivery of the parent coaching section of be-hive, it is my aim to support, facilitate, and guide families through each stage of this journey. The focus is always on the delivery of holistic family centred care, with a key part of my role to ensure each family receives an individualised plan specific to their needs.

Observing children in the NHS attending with trauma and anxiety and then caring for them is what fuelled my desire to be part of this incredible project. I consider this role as a vocation rather than job, and I am both humbled and privileged to be part of your journey.

The society in which we currently live is challenging for children and adults alike with external stressors impacting all areas of life. My aim is to assist you in creating an environment where you can cultivate new skills while engaging the ones you already have.

Alongside my professional experience, I also have directly felt the impact anxiety can create within a child and in a family. Much of the knowledge and skills that I deliver and create is developed from my own personal experience of anxiety. This is delivered in conjunction with the clinically backed knowledge and skills we coach throughout the be-hive programmes.

Previously I have also coached children in health and fitness and I hold Personal Training and Sports Therapy qualifications. When not coaching, creating or delivering new content here you will find me out on the ocean surfing, or up in the mountains climbing. I also have an interest in holistic therapies and alternative medicine.
